Design,
That 400SS IS sweet ain't it?... I copied a pic of it to show my girlfriend... After seeing it, its now our desktop image... She has made comments that she'd LOVE to ride a machine like that... I ESPECIALLY like the black plastic.
The Scrambler 4x4 whether 2-stroke or 4-stroke is an awesome machine that has the ability to go almost anywhere... I like Honda machines, but I cannot understand why on a brand new design, they didn't throw in the extra 10 lbs. for a reverse. Preferences I guess, If you are into MX riding.. the Scrambler is NOT for you.. but if you like to go fast, look good, and have 4x4 all in one machine.. Scrambler is the only way to go...

Design,
I never thought about it like that, but Roostking has a good point.
A classic 2 stroke racer & a new 4x4 thumper in your stable??? Sounds like a nice combo to me.

Design,
Yea I own a LT 250 R, but Im looking for a LT 500R. I really want a DS-650, but for now its gonna have to wait.

I also had the 400SS as my desktop for quite sometime. IT is an awesome looking (and running I'm sure) quad.. Very trick...

Have a great weekend,

RoostKing...

I say sell your 250r and buy a scrambler.
I have both and each is good at it's own thing. Speed & jumping 400ex
Mud & making new trails the scambler.
The polaris does have a better ride through rough stuff.

I would never sell my 400EX for a Scrambler. I have ridden a Polaris for almost 4 years. After a while, it gets boring. You just sit there, press a button and it goes. To me, that is dull. I get a huge adrenaline rush running through the gears. Whether I short shift and pull a taller gear, or leave it in gear and rev it hard, I still get a huge rush. You cannot get that kind of thrill on a Polaris. For me, automatic transmissions take a lot of the fun factor out of riding. The heavy weight of any Polaris is really bad, and the Honda will out-handle any Polaris in any condition, save mud, water and snow. This is my personal opinion on what I'd do in this situation.

I too had the 400SS on my backround a long time ago. Roostking, my dad wants to get rid of my 250 (which he likes to ride) and wants to get a 500.

Sounds like a good Idea. I was not sure if you would be trying to make payments on 2 machines, thats why I suggested selling the 400ex. It sounds like youve got it handled. I am sure your dad is going to really liek the 500 Scrambler They are a blast to ride in the woods.

What year is the LT250R?

If your dad is willing to get the SC500 by getting rid of the LT250, let him. The way I see it you then get to keep your EX, and have access to a SC500.

If you were wanting to sell your EX for the Scrambler, I think it all comes down to $$$. If your financing your EX, I doubt you've had it long enough to make $$ off it, meaning you would'nt get much back by selling it, to apply towards the Scrambler. Then you can figure 1K easy to get the new Scrambler modded to a desriable liking (pipe/silencer/carb/clutching/handlebars/ split brake kit), and that's not including $400+ for new tires/wheels.

Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to steer you away from the Scrambler, they both are fine machines, but you already have a fine machine in the EX.

If it were me...I'd keep the EX. Let dad pick the tab on a new SC500!!

My LT is an 88 RK. If I were to get a Scrambler I would sell the LT250R. My dad would wanna ride the 400 cuz he is into extreme performance. I would hav no probablem riding a Scrambler if I made mine a 500SS 4x4 like Jacks
