Sell 400EX for Scrambler?!?!?
#1
I don't know whats going on. I was watching Extreme Machines and they had this thing on 4x4 and it made me want to get a Polaris Scrambler 500 4x4. Then I was looknig up info on the Scramblers and it has made me think really bad about selling my new 400EX for a Scrambler. The thing that really put me over the top was the picture at this site:

Check out that Polaris and tell me it not better than my 400EX. Does anybody think I'm crazy for wanting to do this?

If you do get the Scrambler say goodbye to big jumps. I'm not saying the Scrambler can't jump just not nearly as well. On the plus side you could ride places you used to just ride by.
With the on/off 4WD the Scrambler can slide, doughnuts etc. Though it is kinda tall. The Scrambler is MUCH more comfortable. When I rode my bro's 400EX I felt real hunched over. Like I was gonna get my prostate examined or something. Plus the little, hard seat. You'll have reverse should you need it. The 4x4 is awesome. I've pushed a Banshee, Trailblazer, 400EX, but none of them have had to push me! The auto is fun and can be "tuned" to your type of riding. I never thought I'd want an auto, now I'm not sure I can go back. The 400EX is a great quad & it would be hard to get rid of. I'm not saying the Scrambler is better, just different.

Andrew, what do you mean when you said you pushed a Banshee, Trailblazer, and 400EX? I have to agree with you on the comfort thing. Although when I sat on it I didn't sit weird, but I notice is has a real hard seat, whereas even the 300EX's is a lot softer, and the Scramblers even softer yet.

Rooster,
The pushing thing, I mean out of mud and off the top of tree branches & deep ruts. Branches & ruts I don't mind, the mud being flung up on my shins sucks though! The Polaris seats kinda show their snowmobile heritage. I never noticed leaning foward on my friends 300EX, just the 400EX seemed like you "lay down" too much.

Evan,
I don't know if you would like the Scrambler after owning the EX. I have both. I ride the EX. It is lighter, faster through the woods because of the suspension, and it is a jumping monster.
This talk about the scrambler has a softer seat is a little wierd. My 95 is no more comfortable than the EX. In fact I find the wide stance because of the CVT to be a little uncomfortable. All personal preference I guess. I love the suspension on the EX so I figure I get a smoother ride on it anyway.
If you plan on doing some 'mudding' then the Scrambler is an awesome beast. The CVT really helps over a manual in the mud. The CVT you can spin the wheels at any speed, where on a manual, you are stuck with only one gear or two. The true 4 wheel action is really great.
Jack's 400SS is a one of a kind machine. It must have a 3-4K of upgrades (I don't mean to insult Jack if he has 5-10K in upgrades ). Roller clutch, motor work, wheels, swingarm, suspension, etc. The thing must chew up other machines in drag races. But it is a 2x4 not a 4x4 so don't get confused. Jack really knows how to make a Polaris a sweet machine.
But to get back to the point, the grass may not be greener. You have a pretty awesome machine in the EX. It does a lot of things better than other machines. You may miss that performance if going to the Scrambler for 4x4.
Either way, both a great machines.

Design,
I figure since you already own a high-performance quad (the LT) oyou should sell the 400EX and get a Scrambler 4x4(400 or 500) I have ridden my friends 500 places that you could never take the 400ex, and then went out and darn near beat a 400ex in a drag race. So keep he LT sell the 400, and get a Scrambler. Oh you can also do many things to trick out a Poalris, the first of which would be a brake kit that will make your foot brake actually useful. (NO single lever for both front and back).
