This is my opinion...and I do not direct any of my comments toward a single person...

Everyone is still beating to death..the speed and how good the DS is.....There is not a review yet that has said it is going to be good for MX...I believe it will proove itself just fine in the sand....But if you have really raced on an mx track....and are really riding...You know as well as I do...what kind of strength and endurance it takes to really be competetive.....But a 460 pound mx'r does not inspire me the least bit....Even if it has the power to rip.....A machine that heavy is going to break parts when you crash...If you race...you will crash...sometime.

I'm not knocking the bike just yet....I have not seen one in person or rode one. I'm guessing there will be little complaints about the machine...I'm also guessing that eventually everyone will realize that it is any one persons OPINION about which quad is RIGHT FOR THEM ..... There is no such thing as any one person saying that a certain bike is the best....It is an opinion in my eyes.

All these magazines can sit there all day long and drag race...and put the machines up on there ends...and compare weight....past records...etc. It's nice reading material. But not really useful to me unless I am the one doing the test...because I am the one who is going to be driving the machine...
Oh well I've rambled long enough......
I wish the ds good luck....I guess we shall see.

Sorry guys,
After reading some of the rave reviews about the DS 650 from fellow forum members, it sounds like the DS is the NEW benchmark by which all future quads will be judged by. Still hoping for a 2 stroke 250? Too bad the 650 will rip it. WAnt a great suspension? its already on the DS. Handling? Covered again by the DS. And dont even start on the wieght factor. Its 80+ pounds heavier than the 250 R and still kicks its ****( anything can lose wieght). On the track it really must be pretty hard finding a line to pass the 650, being 50+ inches wide and all! I know I am going to hear it for this post, but hey the truth hurts. WHAT DOES HONDA, YAMAHA, SUZUKI, and KAWA have in mind? If its not up to the DS specs out the floor, ITS A WASTE OF TIME... Put up or fall behind.

I was not really talking about the ragazine reviews, we all know how they can be. And to be honest I may have overstated its MX appeal, but a forum member (badLT500R whom I was kinda talking about in the original post.) has ridden one on a track and claimed he was actually able to beat some of the dirtbikes around the track, for whatever thats worth. He did say that due to the awesome suspension it really did not feel like a 480 pound machine, and in fact felt lighter to him than his LT 500 R on the track, not to mention faster.

As far as best in a person eyes, if a guy is in the market for a DS-650 he might also be interested in its direct competition (Banshee, 400ex,) so when comparing these bikes it is fair to say that the DS does appear to be the better bike. I see no real advantages in those bikes over the DS, but then, like you, I have not ridden the DS.

I would think that most people have not driven a Corvette, but rest assured they know its better than a Chevette, just by looking at the specs on paper.
I would also not be so pumped over a brand new machine, but knowing the motor has been around for awhile, I feel a bit more confident in stating the above opinions.

I think you would also agree the other manufacturers better really step up to the plate or they are going to fail miserably.

HAve a great riding weekend all,

RoostKing...

Oh yes, None of my views are directed at a single person either!

Roostking, I don't think you'll be praising the DS so much when all of the "big 4" ATV manufacturers get into ATV Racing like Kawasaki already is. Then I think you'll see the DS go down, and go down fast! Just think if Honda comes out with their 650EX soon, a 650 liquid just like the DS, plus everything else Honda is known for, cool!

Yea, exactly IF. IF Honda builds it, although I have not even heard a credible rumor to back up a possible 650 ex(although that would be cool!) IF Honda and Yamaha get into Racing. And what do you see Kawasaki doing to match the DS-650? If you think a 2 stroke 250 is gonna do it, think again. MAybe on the track, but no where else.
remember Im merely listening to what some of the actual owners of the DS have said and information I have about the hop up potential DS. I do not own one, but it just seems to be such a sweet machine that the others better step up to the plate.

I agree 100% with RoostKing. I picked up my DS650 today and rode it for about 2 1/2 hours. Let me tell you, the torque and acceleration is unbelievable, and in ALL 5 gears. I had a hard time hanging on, no joking. My forearms are sore from holding on for my life! This bike halls azz. The 650 Rotax motor is a screaming 4-stroke. The bike cannot be ridden slowly, it loves to rev high and fly. I've never ridden anything quite like it in my life. The handling is great in my opinion, although I didn't do any jumping yet, just some very rough and bumpy dirt trails, also some smooth straight aways long enough to get into 5th gear. I had no problems what so ever with the steering, clutch or transmission. Also, the low end power was great, I dunno what the magazines are talking about! And I haven't had a problem yet with the rev limiter kicking in, although I'm still breaking it in so that's a no no anyway.

A 2-stroke 250 doesn't have a praire in a drag with the DS650, in my opinion, although it's been a while since I've ridden one.

I had thoughts of waiting to see what Yamaha and Honda will counter with next fall. But I'm glad I didn't wait. This bike is everything I'm looking for in an ATV, and more! This was truely a bold move by Bombardier to introduce such a powerful Sport Quad. I would not be surprissed if Honda and Yamaha decide against stepping up to the plate to offer a powerhouse like the DS650, for legal or safety reasons, or whatever. The DS650 is not for young first time riders and ought to be targeted to 18 years or older in my opinion, unless the rider has been racing Quads for years.

The dealer threw in some extras with the DS650 so I got a reasonable deal given the very limited availability to date. Not what I would expect to pay when the dealer has 10 in stock sitting around, but that is not the case anywhere.

RoostKing: I'm glad to see Duncan Racing and CT Racing working on pipes for the DS650. Ron Woods pricing will have to come down to compete. The bike doesn't need any mods in my opinion. BEFORE I got the DS650 all I was planning on initially was a pipe and a new rev limiter. I don't see the need for either yet, but I'm glad they will be available when I'm ready for them - maybe a couple a weeks, lol.

Yeah right,I doubt it.If so how much money did you lose I mean I don't know of any dealer that would let the hottest most unavailable bike on the market go home with someone test ride for a day or two and let them bring it back.I mean a purchase is a purchase you signed the contract they don't owe you any favors. So unless you have the famous response "well the dealers my cousin or the dealer my best friend"I'd say thats gotta be the most expensive test ride in history.
