Could this qualify as an ATV?

dam, if it aint the fugliest think I've ever seen - kind of looks like its related to a Max being ugly and all, only drawn and quartered. I have actually seen these at Croom, FL but never stopped to watch.

I think those things have been around for ages.
I remember seeing a brochure when I was like 11. Seems to me you could actually put fuel in the tires, for extra mileage!
My wife says her dad had one for a while. She was riding on it with him and burned her leg on the exhaust.

I like the pic of him crossing the stream. That looks funny as heck.. Gas in the tire for more mileage? Thats would be something...
I had the same thought, kinda like the Max, only, dare i say, worse?
It would be interesting to see the front wheel drive system. Unless of course you could not actually turn it!

Having seen these machines in static display at military trade shows, they appear formidable All-Terrain Vehicles in a catholic definition of the term. I believe the front-wheel drive system involves belts and pulleys. Vaguely, I recall liquid storage in the wheel hubs, or something like that.
I don't knock these rides; almost everything (including the Max!) has its place. Eric's disclosed machine surely can negotiate passages even narrower than any 4x4 or trike (or Max, even sideways!).
Competition between vehicle types often doesn't exist, except in the minds and imaginations of some, I think.

I’ll agree it is rather odd/ugly looking (Kind of like a John Deere got together with a dirt bike.) but it really looks like it would go anywhere, even if it were really slow doing it. I found another web sight dedicated to these vehicles, check it out, especially the “Freaks” section, there are some really weird conversions shown. I like the one with a Mazda rotary engine stuck in it. There is also a full explanation on how the front wheel drive works.
