Spark Plug Types

Anybody know the difference between regular, and resistor type spark plugs. When should you use one or the other? Thanks

the only thing i know about resister plugs is the electrode has a gap in the ceramic part. that means the charge has to jump the gap. i guess these keep the engine cooler.
