True, a gun works well, but only if you're there. A really big chain/lock to a big ring in the floor works when you're not. Plus, then you have something for bolting to the bed of your truck when out somewhere.

Alarm systems are fairly inexpensive to install and deter 95% of would-be burglars. You even get a break on homeowners insurance. I have a garage about 100' from the house that contains a wireless IP camera with motion detection and battery powered motion detector lights with a siren. All inside. The great thing about IP cameras is that they can be viewed from inside the house on the same PC screen with the other security cameras or, if one isn't home, by a security firm located anywhere who calls the cops for a real armed response.

hey a gun works great! i would have got me one. i had a couple of black boys say they was gonna steal my '05 400ex one time, all it took was for my too let them meet the "relatives" one look at a crazy *** georgia redneck such as myself with an ak-47 in my hands with a fully loaded 30 round clip in it and they changed their minds real quick and aint even spoke to me since, now thats how you handle things right there, just have an assault rifle pointed between their eyes with a crazy no emotion look on your face. beside that its hillarious to see their reaction!

Had a couple of kids try to steal mine once. Mr. 45 was a huge detterant. No, I didn't shoot either. They were running away (very fast). If you're gonna have a gun, you'd better know the law. Once they retreated, they were no longer a threat. While in Texas, you can use deadly force after dusk to protect your property, you cannot pursue them unless they have possesion of any said property. Since they were empty handed, deadly force would have been illegal. And you know that there are about 100 lawyers who would have had them sue me, even though they were the thieves. BTW, Yoshi, pop out 2 rounds or you're gonna ruin the spring in that magazine. And clips go in your hair. (sound familiar to anyone?)

No, the first series of M16 production were victims of ball powder residue jamming gas ports and poor chamber/bolt design tolerance. Rushed into production with zero field testing under combat conditions as one of McNamara's cost-cutting schemes, they killed a lot of Marines and grunts. Line troops were initially issued only 20-round mags for the M16, 30-rounders being reserved for special forces, who normally went for Swedish Ks, AK47s, or anything else they could get their hands on other than the POS first series M16.
