Christmas Poem from Afterburner
#1
Twas the moto before Christmas and all through the track
Each rider was feeding his face with a snack.
The helmets had been stacked by the racers with care
With hopes that none of them would ruin their hair.
The racers were seated all snug in their seats
Kill tethers connected and double checking their cleats.
When out Fullbore?s trailer there rose such a clatter
The spectators sprang to their feet to see what was the matter.
An awesome sight met their wondering eyes as stared,
Twas the trophy girl with nearly everything bared.
But no time for distractions for races had to begin,
ESPN turned on their cameras to see who would win.
"On Ellis! On Cecco! On Mattlock and Prull!
On Balance, on Borich, on Rhodes (you are so cool).
Then in a blink of an eye, the ATV?s were flying,
with one quad stranded and the rider was crying.
With a fistful of throttle and pressing the attack
Came the bright graphic colors of the Team ALBA pack.
Then Bill Balance flew by in an incredible flash
While Rhodes had a breakdown and Matlock a crash.
Then all at once with a dirt-slinging roar
There came a new quad they had not seen before.
From bumper to grab-bar, it was powder-coated red
Kris Kringle Racing was the sponsor they read.
The back of his armor said Santa in bold
And the white beard in the helmet proved he was old.
Santa was shooting triples with a twist of the wrist
Wes Miller was seen shaking his fist.
"A geezer like that shouldn't be here!"
"He doesn?t even have Fox on any of his gear"
He sped through the pack with ITP?s spinning
Never looking back but was always grinning.
He demanded no flag when he was clipped in the rear
But coal was in store for Cecco I hear.
Cory got on the erase board and wrote with a flair
?Hey everybody, let?s give him a scare?.
With a nod and scowl, the riders all dropped a gear
It was time to teach Santa the meaning of fear.
But the happy old guy zigged and he zagged
And zipped over the line just as it flagged.
He sped to the podium never missing a gear
Grabbed up the trophy and smacked the girl on the rear.
He thanked ELKA and ModQuad for setting up his ride
Winked at Pete Fisher for his stock engine, he lied.
Then he sped out of sight, one last cry to the crowd,
"Merry Christmas to all, and may your pipes not be loud!"
May your Christmas be filled with traditional trimmings and good things. Have a very Merry Christmas and a warm New Year.
