Is is ok to steam clean a quad?

Everyone knows we're not supposed to pressure was our four wheelers, but most of us do it anyway. I was wondering if it would be better to use something like this instead...

I was actually planning on buying this to do the underbody of an older truck I just bought, because I wanted to remove all the grime and old undercoating in order to cover the underbody with spray on bedliner material as sort of a permanent rustproofing, but I thought if it could be used to clean my quad as well, it would be another argument in favor of convincing me to shell out the money for a steam cleaner....

Stem cleaners can be dang tough on wiring and gaskets when the stream is directed in one place too long or the nozzle is held to close. Personally I would not use steam on my quad. Be concerned about the plastics and gaskets under the plastic covers.

Several years ago I bought a similar steam cleaner for our kitchen. Think it was made by Eurka. It also came with a mop-like sweeper that also used steam as a cleaner. The floor unit worked great for hardwood floors. Quick and easy to use. The other unit was too small to really be of much use except to clean between tiles in the kitchen or removing spots on carpet. Looking at this Harbor Freight unit I can't imagine it being much better. The nozzle of the unit must placed only a few inches from the work area and its swath is only 1-2" wide max. It would be fine for specific applications such as removing some burnt on grease in a small area, or cleaning a brake caliper prior to overhaul, but it will be too small for general cleaning of your machine. I'm sure of that.
