eBay. Prices are always really good on slightly used stuff, and face it, your brand new gear will get dirty after the first time you ride anyways.

I got my last pair of Fox Forma Pro boots on eBay for $100, and they were not even broken in yet.

Around this time of year into the fall, prices will be especially low since MX season is well underway. You want to avoid buying in March through May because of the demand for gear.

Welcome to the forum ElderGeek!

sorry for not welcoming you earlier.

I forgot to say that I usually buy the closeout specials from motosport.com. They have some awesome deals on Alloy gear. I had never heard of Alloy before but Im very impressed with the quality and overbuilt construction. I like as much padding between me and the ground as possible.

Dress for the crash, not the ride.

mywifesquad, yup!! I agree with padding between me and the ground.

I need to school up on riding gear. Helmets I know about but pants, protectors and boots I know little about.

Quick question, I will be riding in the desert and dunes most of the time. Are there styles or brands that "breath" more than others?

I can always layer up when it gets cold. Well cold for us . Don't want to buy something that will feel like a ski suit when riding.

Rupp Enduro!! Haven't seen one of those since adolesence! What a flashback....

I was just at the motosport page and they had a big clearance section. No Fear was the lowest price I saw. For about $100.00 you could get pants, jersey and gloves. That was normal gear, they also had some vented gear that would be great for hot weather. I have been thinking of getting some vented gear myself for the rare time I ride in the dirt in the summer. for chest protector's I like THOR, they seem to be more of a full coverage type to me. Possibly more restrictive but I will trade that for more padding between me and the ground. I will always recommend Alpinestar boots. I think the Tech4 is the low budget model right now.
I should get a pic of that machine on my page. Right now its a very nice rolling chassis, waiting for me to rebuild the 4hp Tecumseh engine. Very for those of us who remember.
