Hi Dodge,
I started going in the early 80's on a CR480. First time I went I got a soft terrain tire and my buddies with knobbies couldnt keep up. Next time i had a paddle tire special made. (you couldnt buy them off the shelf back then). Buddies show up with soft terrain tires and I smoke them. Next time we all have paddles and its been a high speed weekend for me every time since. Its the only place I have been in 5th gear on my KTM. 6th is good for over 110 mph, or so I have been told.

Yikes, sounds like a good time for sure! That is a lot of the appeal, it looks like a full throttle playground with a lot of jumps. Looks fun as hell, but like I said, with these fuel prices that trip isn't looking too good anytime in the near future.

Its a rush like no other for me, gotta go even though Im looking at close to $500.00 for fuel for that trip. I think last year i spent about $400.00 This isnt a low budget hobby for sure.

For me I love atv-ing more than just about anything so I will cut back on other things to be able to ride! To me the gas prices are what they are so I willl do what it takes to be able to ride even if it means getting a smaller home, but thank god we are nowhere nere that stage yet. That is kind of my problem, I have gotten into the habit of buying whatever I want when I want it, and now we are trying to afford a house. It is a great time to buy with the current real estate slump, but depending on what the market does, my job could dissipate real quick making it hard to make those mortgage payments

I know exactly what you are talking about as the car industry (unless you are Toyota ) is in the crapper w/ no end in sight!
