Default The Helmet Thread

Hey everyone,

Im in the market for a new helmet..

My current helmet is a cheapo bieffe I bought in the cold months,
for atv / sled use..

It was a dual use helmet, originally came with a visor, and a face sheild,
you could use one or the other, I have since misplaced both,..
So im using a helmet and a pair of goggles, no visor or sheilf.

Also, the venting SUCKS on this thing, all it has is the mouth vent, and
I end up with a burning hot soaked head.

Its also not the lightest thing, but it isnt bad.

I do alot of riding where its nonstop dust from the other guys in front I have to drive thru..

So What I'm getting at is, I want your opinions on an Affordable (can be had for 200 or less) Helmet, that Is
HIGHLY vented,
light,
has a visor
Looks good
Preferably moisture wicking
And preferably the vents would have foam filters in them, otherwise
my helmet and head are going to be full of dust.

thanks

If you don't have to have the latest model, check out the closeout section of some of the online retailers. You might find a high quality helmet and the only thing wrong with it is it's taking up inventory space. And maybe save 50% or more.

Might also want to look at Dennis Kirk and see what they have too.

I have a Fox V2 and it is one of the best that I have ever had. Alot of vents and very easy to clean too. I ride with alot of dust too. I have Spy goggles too and love em.

2 cents.

I use HJC helmets for everything (street, dirt, snowmobiling). I'm not saying they are the best or anything like that, but they are very popular. I've had visor screws fall out and vents fall off and have always been able to get replacement parts "instock" where ever I was.

Lots of great choices, I believe Klim has a highly vented model that is marketed as the most vented mx helmet you can buy atm.

Oops, sorry the helmet is pretty pricey. But it is highly ventilated!

I use a Gmax at work for the sleds, I think its the GM56X, we get a discount so it only cost me $30, retail is still only around $100ish I think. Pretty good helmet for so cheap. I use Dragon's for goggles.

I just bought a HJC CL-X5 Sapien MC1 on e-bay for $89 and like it very much. I think it listed for $159.
