Spider, Pro Taper, Tag Metals, ODI, Oury, all make nice grips. Check out a softer compound.

Grips are always the first thing i change on the bikes i buy..
My scrammy has ProGrips... its like a nice soft sticky gel, really comfy
300ex has protaper pillowtops... all the way to the right on that link Krait sent ya..
these are also really nice, i was happily riding along for months with no gloves, untill i ran into some overhanging pricker
bushes on the trail, spent 10 mins digging them out of my hands and legs and arms... advice WEAR GLOVES PANTS AND LONG SLEEVES
I also have Hand guards on the scrammy, i got thin dirtbike style ones.. my advice, get the biggest fattest ones you can, i forget the brand
but they sell one with a mirror /compas/clock/temp in it , really nice
Gloves.. I just bought some With gel in the palm and strategic spots on the fingers,
get nice ones with padded or gelld palm, and that have some sort of knuckle protection,
some have big rock hard carbon knuckles, you could knock someone out with :-)

those oury mountain grips seems like just what the doctor ordered
second thought..
You may also want a STEERING DAMPER
this was one of my favorite thing i ever did to the scrambler,
boy were my arms and hands alot better off after that, quad too
not to mention rocks/roots/ruts couldnt throw my steering so hard i would
loose my grip

Some good gloves will also help a lot. Something with a bit of padding, armor is always nice too. I used MechanixWear Mpact 2 gloves for a season of downhill mtn bike riding, very nice gloves. Armor helps when you smack a branch on your knuckles. The yellow mesh in between fingers is venting.

softer compound grips will help a lot.......Pro Grip has a couple sets with extra padding on the palms....909/FMF also makes a very soft compound grip... though they wear out faster and need to be replaced just about every year or more......
also there might be something in your riding style that is making it hard on your hands too...... are you getting sore from friction? or is it from holding on too tight?
Sometimes I notice my hands get more tired when I don't use my legs enough..... not enough standing or general body english will sometimes put too much pressure on the hands.....especially under a lot of hard breaking......
