Probably a little off subject, but isn't this the reason that the populations of animals are disappearing? For 'medicinal' purposes. They cut off sharks fins and throw them back, and so on and so on. None of these 'medicinal' cures has ever been proven, to my knowledge.

They make a lot of different kinds of liqour like that, especially in Thailand. Scorpion whiskey and all that. It would be the kind of thing someone here buys and dares their friends to drink. Most of the spiders, snakes, and scorpions aren't endangered species, and if they weren't going in these bottles they would just be exterminated anyway. Who wants cobras sneaking into their bed at night? Not me. One way or another I'd kill them too.
