Maybe someone can give me an answer to somthing that has been bugging the **** out of me lately,
I just got done watching a supercross race on tv and there was a 250 four stroke that did fairly well and then they showed the 125 class and there was also a 4 stroke in that class. Here is my question if they can build 4 stokes that are 125cc and 250cc and keep up with people like McGrath then why are the 4 stroke quads getting bigger and bigger, when they could appearently just build them stronger, keeping the weight down and performance up. Maybe one of you guys can help it just doesn't make since to me.

AMA rules allow 250cc for 2 stroke & 400cc for 4 stroke in the 250 class.
The 125cc class allows 250cc 4 strokes.
The 4 strokes are much bigger in cc`s. Not 125 & 250.
The 4 strokes in each class need a lot more cc`s to be competetive. This rule has been there for many years, it`s only now that manufacturers are experimenting with it and it`s only Yamaha. HTH

It's impossible to make a 4 stroke 125 or 250 equivilent to a 2 stroke 125 and 250.
The powerband and RPM ranges of a 4 stroke are to mild cuz of the combustion process, thats why they need increased engine sizes to compare to 2 strokes.
A good example is the Raptor 660.
