Default Amsoil $10.95 a quart?

Holy crap... I've been using Amsoil 10w40 in my z400 since it was new....I always buy it from the same local Honda/Yamaha/AC/KTM dealer I always have.....

In 2005 I was getting Amsoil for $6.95 a quart...... last year it was $8.25 a quart...

Yesterday I paid $10.95 a quart!

That is an insane inflation over a 3 year period of time....

Wow.. I got a couple of cases about a 2.5 to 3 yrs ago from a friend of mine who sells it. Think I paid $5.50 from him including shipping.

For that price, you can switch to Redline MC Oil or Maxima Extra or Ultra, which are ester synthetics and have superior chemistry!

I thought Amsoil was supposed to be cheaper than all the ATV manufacturers brand. How much is a quart of Suzuki oil?

I don't think it has ever been cheaper then conventional oil..... but as far as synthetics go Amsoil was always priced right.....

It was usually cheaper then the Maxima and Redline specialty oils..... guess not anymore.....

Amsoil and Mobil 1 are PAO, and while they are "synthetic", the stating material was originally petroleum....so as the price of oil goes up, so does the price of the petroleum based product.

Ester based synthetic oils like Redline and Maxima Extra, Ultra, and 530MX are superior to PAO and not made of petroleum, so their price does not fluctuate with the price of oil. Of course, when the price of gas/diesel goes up, it costs more to ship things so the price of shipping everything goes up as well.

I use amsoil in my mustang and my jeep.
I only change it once a year. So in the end it is cheaper.

Well that explains it..... I did not know that Amsoil was PAO I thought it was a pure synthetic..... but I guess that is why it was always a bit cheaper then the Mexima and Redline....

I will use the Amsoil I already bought but I think I may move to Maxima...... the prices on RMATV don't seem bad compared to what I paid. I've always used Amsoil but for the same price I might as well use the best stuff.......
