atv winch mount plate load capacity
#1
I know it is alot easier to find a mount plate/winch combo for an older atv, and since my longest lived hobby is building computers, and since I finally purchased my first atv, I thought maybe I could get the ball moving with winch/atv manufacturers to give us the load capacity of our machine once the model specific mount plate was installed, and what the load limit was on the machine to begin with.

I have been looking for a winch/mount plate combo for a 2007 honda rancher trx420TM "2x4". I notice your site lists one that fits the trx420FM "4x4" model, but like everyone else, you have no listings for the 2x4. The moto-alliance website has a winch I did purchase, but had to cancel shipping since the ebay listing failed to state that the 4x4 winch mount plate was not compatible with the 2x4 plate. Is the warn mount plate the same for both models? Have you guys tested this?
I also am searching for literature about the load capacity of your mount plate combined with my atv frame. What is the load limit of your mount plate combined with my unit? I do need to know what strength winch I should fit on my machine so that I do not risk bending the frame; is it 1500lbs 3000lbs? And since the area where the winch installs is so small, I would assume it accommodates a winch small in size anyhow which would predefine the load limit of the frame. Just need some technical issues solved before I go and drop $400.00 on equipment that I want for piece of mind without worrying about damaging the safety, and integrity of my unit.
I will at some time post replies about these issues if ever I receive. But if anyone wants to call me stupid, brilliant, or have any suggestions on what other bit of information I should have sent, please help us all by informing the well established people at winch/atv manufacturers by requesting similar information to be posted in the appropriate place such as the "General equipment" when you go to buy the item, not just hidden like a dirty secret. I know alot of you are pipe welders, and mod your own gear, but the rest of us are plain stock and have little money to buy another atv every other year or pay to have the frame reinforced while holding your breath. Besides, shouldnt this be required information anyhow?
