Default Accessorize!

Not sure if I spelled "Accessorize" correctly, but oh well, its Monday morning and the coffee has yet to kick start my brain cells.. But I digress.

Ok, I have come to the decission of adding accessories to my Honda 420.. But what do I need? I would like some type of pack for either the back or the front rack (be it hard or soft pack), a fuel pack as well and maybe a winch (winch with an "i" not an "e"). Yet I do not want to load my ride down to where it will end up looking like a sherman tank trying to tip-toe through the timber. My friend's step-dad had one that had a hugemongious home made wooden box built on the front of it that he carried darn near EVERYTHING and still had room to spare for a small village (I still think Jimmy Hoffa's body was at the bottom of that thing). Not to mention the big one he had mounted on the back. IT was just crazy, he couldn't go anywhere on that thing due to it being a lumbering boheimeth.

Anyways, my bike is kinda neked at the moment but I do want some things to add for packing in stuff. I usually carry my back pack I use for hunting, but one can only carry so much in one of those. PLUS I am wanting something nice and secure to stow my Nikon D40 in while we ride for pictures.

Just knowing the way I can be sometimes I will have all this junk on there and have to have hoist to get my butt on the seat and over all the said junk mounted to it IF I am not wise with how I go about doing this.

SO that is why I am asking you guys? What are some of the things you have on your bikes and what are some of the "must haves" you would suggest?

Thanks!

I have a moose softside bag for the rear rack, has 3 movable or removalbe section dividers and works as a cooler in itself, LOVE IT can see it in my profile picks

there is also fuel cells that lay flat on your rack and strap to it and more stuff can be stacked on top, I dont have one yet but plan on getting one they look great.

Thanks for your feedback guys.

I have looked at Rocky Mountain ATV extensively for these type of accessories and read the few reviews provided with each product, but I was wanting a bit more info on what some of the riders on here use. I like the soft packs, but was wondering if maybe a hard trunk was the way to go? But then again, will this add any unwanted/unneeded weight to the back end of my quad?. Fuel cells.. Well fuel cells are great, but I what about them leaki.... ARRGGH!!! See, this is how my mind works.. I over-analyze pretty much EVERYTHING!!

Sometimes thats good and sometimes that bad. So in saying all this, I was just wanting to get a census of what people use and go from there.

Thanks again!

I use the soft packs and they work ok but if you are doing alot of mudding/water riding I would not reccomend them as things inside only stay dry for so long.

I mainly ride dry trails with the occasional mud and water hole crossing. But I have heard of the dust and dirt that the soft packs get while riding can cause issues with the zipper and/or velcro not working as it should? Have you or anyone else had this problem?

Thanks.

THE must haves for me are a thumbwarmer, a winch, snow plow, and a drawbar with 2" ball for my trailer. I usually get Warn 2,500 pound winches with the rocker switch mounted on the left handlebar next to my thumb. I have lots of built in storage and don't have any bags or boxes. I like to use 8" high rear rack extensions from shadetree to bungee my cooler and gas can to. If I needed more storage I would put a bag on the front so I can still carry my things on the back because they won't fit in a cargo box or a bag. I like having a backrest too so when I stop for a break I can kick back with my feet on the front rack. I love my 4x4 La-Z-Boy.
