Newbie Question
#1
Hey guys,
I'm new to ATVs and motorcycles in general. I'm kind of embarrased to ask this question but here goes. My new ATV has a thumb throttle and hand brakes. It would seem the safest if I could keep at least a few fingers on the hand brake when riding but then I don't have a good grip on the handlebars given the distance between the throttle and the brakes. Should I keep trying to ride like that, or do you normally keep your hands off the brakes until you actually want to brake? I rode motorcycles with a twist throttle as a kid and I seem to remember being able to grasp both the throttle and the brake at once, but that's not so easy with the thumb throttle.

Welcome to the forums BassinProf. I typically keep a hand on my clutch only when I need to, like if working a way through trails. As far as the brake, I always have the foot brake ready at anytime so no need to keep fingers on it.
