Default Having trouble getting 440 started.

I just installed a 440 kit in my 2002 400ex now im having trouble getting it started. Resleeving was done professionally, installed everything the way the book said too and now it wont start. Tried trouble shooting still nothing. anybody got any suggestions please let me know.

Default Having trouble getting 440 started.

You didn't list what you have checked in troubleshooting, so I will list what I would check, first start with timing,make sure TDC marks and cam marks are lined up, valves need to be checked, too tight or too loose can cause problems. fuel and spark, of course. Do you have an aftermarket CDI? some need a fully charged battery or they will not start,even if they crank ok. is the carb clean and adjusted properly? Let us know what you have checked, and it will help us narrow down any possible problem. Good luck.

Is it getting fuel and spark?


If it is and obviously should have compression, I'm guessing you have the timing off.

i made sure it was tdc, brand new battery, new spark plug, theres compression, had the valve seals replaced. thanks for taking your time and responding to my message its greatly appreciated.
