Differential Question
#1
Doesn't a Traxter have a "Torsen" differential, with worm gears, instead of a clutch pack, to transfer torque from a spinning wheel to one with traction?
The reason I ask is: an article on the Kawasaki Prairie 650 (www.You Know What source.com/articles/atv_reviews/kawasaki/031001_kawasaki_650_prairie.htm) states the Traxter has a clutch pack in its differential; I thought the Traxter had a Torsen diff (instead of the clutch-pack limited-slip design in practically all other 4X4 ATVs). The writer seemed to think a clutch pack in an ATV differential was unusual; not so; however, a RIDER-ACTUATED clutch pack (like the Prairie 650's ) is unique.
Oh yes; substitute "ATV" for "You Know What" in the URL above to read the article by Bob Davis (former ATV Connection Magazine editor?). This is the first article I've seen with information on riding the Prairie 650 (not counting the Popular Mechanics article).
