Default Increasing chances of finding ATV after leaving it

Hey all,

I have a tiny cabin and I want to get an ATV and use it to get from the road to my cabin. I want to just leave the ATVon my land. This means that it will be left unattended for as long as three weeks at a time in the middle of the forest.... So I know that this is not ideal which is why I am getting an old ATV and I will take off its seat, battery, and possible tire, each time before I leave.

Any other tips and locking ideas?

Thanks!!!

Can you get a small shed and park it in there and lock it and still take the tires off. I would try that atleast.

you're gonna take off & replace the tires & battery every 3 weeks?

that's gonna get old really fast.

simply buy a decent chrome-moly chain and wrap it around the frame and a big tree- cover it with a dark green tarp and be done with it.

anyone who finds it and wants it will have ample time to get it no matter what you do-

if you really rant to give any would-be thief a hard time, in addition to the above chain around a tree, you can also put a steel cable through the tire rim, through the a-arm and around the frame.

besides- the atv won't last long anyway, especially if you're just gonna leave it in the middle of the woods exposed to the elements- your atv will be home to a dozen wire chewing, air cleaner & muffler clogging critters. You'd be lucky to get a year out of it before you scrap it or replace it.

you'd be better off spending the lousy $200 on some lumber and all weather paint and building a secure "dog house" to store it in.

or..... better yet- save all the money on buying an atv and go rent a bobcat for a day and cut in a small path so you can just drive your car straight to your cabin!!!

If it's left alone in the woods for 3 weeks, if someone wants it, they will take it. A tow strap and 5 minutes and it would be pulled out of the woods.

Batteries are relatively cheap and as is a seat on ebay. If I saw one sitting out in the woods for two weeks like that, I'd think it was abandoned or stolen and abandoned.

How long is the road to the cabin?

Can't you just drive your car/truck to the cabin?
