Charging system issues

Test the regulator same as the stator wires. Should show some resistance between each yellow regulator wire. If wires zero out, regulator is trash. Tested several regulators this way. I would get a good connector for this from any local auto supply or the site I referenced. Just take one end of the connector in to show the parts guy and they can match a connector up to the size connectors you need.

Fine if you're just testing to see if the regulator works or not,but not for extended use. On that I'd still use connectors designed for use in wet conditions. This set up is fine if you're wiring something up inside an electrical box in a house..

Looks like that connector was also associated with the RPM cause my RPM's would drop down to zero for no reason when riding. Now it doesn't do that anymore. It was at zero when I had it disconnected. Bettery tested good all seems fine. If that battery still drops voltage than will know problem is somewhere else.

Main thing is that's it's charging at least 14 volts back to the battery at an idle. If not then you need a regulator, if it is charging ok just get a good connector and be done with it.
