What does the voltage regulator do on a ATV?
Would the voltage regulator cause the ATV to not spark?
ALSO:
What is the voltage susposed to be from the CDI to the coil? My sportsman 500 isn't getting any power to the ignition coil.

Regulator changes ac volts from the stator to dc volts for the battery and other electronics. If you have a no spark condition,first check the resistance on the pick up coil white and white/red wires leading to the cdi. Should show around 97 ohms. If this is with in range,could be a main stator problem. For that need to know the year model you have.

Have you isolated the kill circuit from the cdi? If you haven't already, pull the black wire from the cdi and see if you have spark. Plus cdis are getting cheap for these now if you determine that's the problem.CDI Module Fits Polaris Sportsman 6x6 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 | eBay

I'm not talking about the kill switch on the left control. Disconnect the black wire from the cdi to isolate the kill system from it and see it if runs. If it still doesn't have spark,you may have shorted out the cdi or something else may have happened when you disconnected the battery while it was running. When you disconnect the battery and quickly reconnect it on a running machine, you can cause a spike in voltage that can short out cdis,regulators,melt wires in the wiring harness,etc. On older models you could possibly get away with that without damage as the ignition was magneto triggered,but on your 2007 model it's a dci system and dependent on battery voltage at all times for ignition. That's why rather than chasing your tail,throwing parts at it,best to get that cheap manual and go through the trouble shooting steps along with the specific electrical checks it shows. This way you an narrow down what may have happened.
