maier plastic
#1
I am almost finished installing new plastic for my 89r. I got the oem style replacement with the hood as well. even though I am still not done, I can see that the mounting holes are never going to line up. also the the right side of fenderis going to get melted as soon as the pipe gets hot. the crappy directions that came with the stuffsay that you might have to slightly bend some of the brackets to bolt everything up. now is this normal? did I just blow a wad of cash on something that looks that does not even belong?
should I just have bought the race front?
also what is the deal with the slots on the fender and no tabs on the hood? if anyone can help me out please respond.

I have heard nothing but poor ratings of Maier plastic. If you can return it, do it and get some 400ex plastic (I hear that bolts up perfectly.) If not, most people modify the stuff quite a bit to get a good fit. Maybe you can make some of your own brackets so that it mounts better and wont get scorched by the pipe? I dunno how that company stays in business.

Maier plastic does take some 'modifying' to get it to fit just right. And the plastic WILL melt near the silencer, unless you buy some 'heat tiles' from Maier to stick on the underside of your plastic. If you don't want to buy the heat tiles, just cut your plastic around where it melts. If your fenders crack, also, they can be sent back for a new set of them.

MAIER PLASTIC!!!!!!!THE FINISH SUCKS!!!!!!THE FIT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!THE QUALITY SUCKS!!!!!!! Can you tell I have Maier? I would not sugest it to anyone!!!!! Nothing lines up, I have front fenders that are paper thin down were the front fender supports bolt. I will be going back to Genuine Suzuki Fenders front and rear later this summer.
