I am in the market for a GPS. There are tons out there and was hoping for some input from people who have one and their likes / dislikes.
I will be using mine for ATV and snowmobile riding. I don't hike or fish. Mainly want to be able to track rides and dump then onto a map.
I don't think I will ever be using it outside of the us either.

I was looking at Garmin's map76 or the etrax vista.

Suggestions? ideas?

I have the Garmin Vista. Bought it mainly because it has better resolution and 24 mg. of memory. Mounts easily on the handlebars. Might be overkill for what you want. The Garmin Legend would be a good compromise. I don't know if it's info can be downloaded or not. groundspeak.com is a good forum to pick up lots of info.

I also have the Garmin eTrex Vista. Its nice and small while giving all the functionality one could possibly need. I have some maps that of my rides on my website at www.ansley.net under riding pictures. If you are into mapping memory is VERY important. Big Cities are about 7Mb worth of data. Since you are in NH you could get away with less memory. I can get all of NH in 8.8Mb on the Garmin MapSource software. If you are looking for mounts go to www.ram-mount.com, they have a perfect anti-vibration mounting for both your sled and the quad. You will buy one holder and 2 mounting ***** for easily moving between the two vehicles.

I have the Garmin Vista, too. Get the MapSource Roads & Recreation CD, it contains every single road by my house even ones that haven't been used for nearly 20 years. It is worth getting it. I have the ram mount, you will need the cigarette adapter cable if you go on long trips on your four wheeler. The batteries will last about ten hours. Check out GPS City, they are an authorized Garmin dealer. The GPS you want is one that can hold maps.

Please add my vote for the garmin etrex vista. I have it and love it. I have no complaints. I also have the ram handle bar mount for my quad and the suction cup mount for the car. It makes it easy to move from one to the other.

I also have the power cord so I go easy on the batteries.

Another site to check for information on gps is geocaching.com. You won't be disappointed with the information. You can find out the pros and cons of both garmin and magellan.
