Another Sad Head Injury Story
#1
We were riding in the high desert (Wild Wash Rd., near Victorville) this weekend. A young girl riding a Blaster lost control and flipped. The bike rolled on her, breaking an arm and leg, but worse, HER HELMET FLEW OFF AND SHE HIT HER HEAD. They had to close the freeway offramp, and land a helicopter (in 40 mph winds) to get her out. We were listening to the paramedics on the scanner, and they said she was losing her vision! They brought her to the hospital where I work (we are the regional trauma center), but I havn't yet been able to find anything about what finally happened to her yet.
Anyway, the moral of the story is HELMETS!! Every now and then, I catch myself forgeting to buckle mine. Plus, kids are often given adult helmets that are to big, and can come off in a crash.

sorry to hear that. as parents lets do our part and make sure that the helmet fits properly. my daughter is on her 2nd helmet and she has been riding for 2 years. this could have been a freak accident. i hope she is alright.
