What does everyone use? I am wondering if those expensive o'neals, fox's, and alpines are really worth it for general quad riding.

Thanks,

Rainman

For non agressive riding I would recomend a cheaper boot than the high dollar ones. I would say the high dollar boots are worth every penny though. Only you know your riding style. If you do any kind of jumping ect. I would get the best I could. When I bought boots a few years ago I got the cheaper AXO's $180. They have been o.k. I guess but, the left one has had something wrong with the shank (I beleive) for a while now. It pops when I walk? Also I have lost two buckles (same buckle location on both the right and left boot) while racing, and dont know why they just came off? Any way one day I will be buying some Sidi boots, what I should have done in the first place.

I was all set to get the Alpinestar Tech 8's, but when I tried them on they just seemed to tight. These things are designed for Supercrossers; more support than I really need. I went with the Tech 5's (discontinued now) and they've been great for over three years.

I have Thor's, the T-80 I think BUT I love them and they are VERY reasonable compaired to most of the others. I have owned the Alpine stars, Fox and O'neal's and buy far the Thor's are the best bang for the buck.

I have had a pair of Tech 3's for eight years. The piece that protects the inner ankle that is double stitched on is falling off on the outside. The Tech 6's are very similar and I have a pair on order. Tech 3's were great boots. Tech 8's were as stated above very very tight. Try those on before anybody buys Tech 8's. You will have to go bigger then your regular shoe size so try before you just decide you want to buy from a catalog.

I don't do any jumping or racing. Do the MX boots work good for nasy muck and mud? How about for sand dunes?

Thanks,

Rainman

They aren't made to keep your feet dry for mud bogging, or anything like that. Keeping in mind that I've ridden my quad with flip flopps on, it's always a good idea to wear MX boots, whether it's dirt, sand, mud, or what ever.

TRXter, they won't keep the mud and sand out. The boots are however a safty issue. The more safty equpment you wear, Helmet, boots, gloves and ect. the better off you are during a crash. The boots are good ankle support for jumps and all around ATV'n. If you can afford them I'd get them.

I wear Alpinestar Vector boots. They were expensive, but I really like them. Now I don't like to ride without them. They are water proof, so they are good for mud.
