Plastic Care/Replacement
#1
I recently bought an '87 Moto 4 350. The bike is in great shape except for the plastic. It looks terrible. It's faded, chalky, almost like it's deteriorating. Is there anything that I can used to "refinish" the plastic? Rubbing compound, plastic polish, etc. If not, is this machine too old to buy replacement plastic? I've seen fenders for Banshee, TRX, Warrior, Suzuki, and other racers, but none for Utilities, especially older ones like mine. Can anyone piont me to a website for Jurrasic Quads? Thanks

PC Racing makes a product called "Plastic Renew". I don't know how good it works, but from the ads, I seems to do a fantastic job. They say that one bottle restores at least two complete ATVs. Their phone number is- 909/698-4962. You might want to check it out.

I bought an old suzuki LT50 for my son last summer,& the plastic was so bad I could gouge it with my fingernail {deep}.I priced new plastic, but decided to try & paint it first.I had to get the dead stuff off , so I took a razor blade, held it perpendicular to the fender, & carefully scraped the flat areas until I got down to good plastic.I did the curved areas as best I could, then wet sanded the whole thing.I was just about to spray on some plastic adhesion promoter, when decided to try some buffing compound first {3M microfinishing compound}.Much to my suprise it buffed right up! by the time I was done, i had a hard time convincing my neighbor that I didn't buy new plastic. All this took a very long time {scrape, sand, polish ,sand some more, polish again etc. and these are VERY small fenders},but maybe you would not have to scrape or sand. Also , I'm not sure all plastic will buff up like this did, so if you decide to try it,test first in a hidden spot. Go light & keep moving so you dont burn the plastic.I've heard not so good things about that plastic renew .
