How do I get started in atv/motorcycle repair? I can't find any schools around here(St. Clairsville, Ohio area) that offer any classes on atv repair. What kind of schooling is needed? Did you go to a tech school or University or what? Anything that would help me get started would be appreciated. Thanks.

Cowtit, here is some info for you.

Thompson Education Direct
925 Oak St
Scranton, PA 18515

1-800-228-0799 or Fax 1-570-961-4030

Cost is about $600 or $25 a month for the interest free loan.
They send you the books, you work at home and get your help with 800 service.

You get some additional tools and manuals and then some other things after you finished.

It seemed geared towards Motorcycles and two-stroke maintenance, but I have not applied yet.

It was advertized in some dirt bike/ATV magazines.

All dealers also have their own certified mech course for $$$$$$$, I think the one above is for the basic's only.

Not sure if they send you broken equipment for you to fix. Then you ride it back to them repaired or fixed or what???

If I had time, I'd do it as a project with my son over the summer.

Thanks for the info fishbones, I'll look into that and see if its for quads too.

tom18801 - no, I'm not a farmer.

foneguy - thanks, but they only have campuses in Pheonix, Arizona and Orlando, Florida. Just a little farther than I want to travel!
