I am interested in becoming a ATV safety instructor. Does anyone know of any good courses? And how to get in touch with them. Any help would be appreciated.

I am a licensed ATV safety instructor for ASI[ATV Safety Institute].Contact their web site as advised. They will screen you over the phone to see if you qualify.A date will be set for ICs[Instructor Candidates]to take the 8hr a day,4 day course they offer to qualify. If you pass the 4 day training course, you will than need to get a training site in your area to do the training, your Regional Operations manager based out of Cali will further advise you.

Best of luck,
Bill

Bill,
I e-mailed them at the website and they gave me the number of the regional instructor. I called about a week ago and have not heard back.

Lee,
its very possible that your regional rep is out of the office or its possible that in YOUR area,no more instructors are needed, either way,I'd continue calling ASI until your Rep gives you an answer,at least than you'd know where you stand on this subject.

I tried to check into to becoming an instructor, myself. I was not welcomed with "opened arms",when I did finally contact the admin. offices. I got discouraged and gave up. Guess they don't need instructors in the central Ohio area!

I just called out there to find out my own status. My rep said they don't have enough instructors to teach instructors. I've been on the list to attend the Safety Instructor Course since January 02, I'm on the list which must be long. Just keep on them. I called many times and left messages. Many people make the call and fill out the forms but loose interest if they don't get school seats right away. In the mean time while you are waiting, check out places you can instruct. Sometimes they'll find you an area but you may have to find the exzact place.

Let me add that I took the ATV Safety Course in order to get a permit for riding on US Forest Service land. I thought it was an excellent course, however I'm not too sure many of the kids in my group took it seriously. It might be difficult to setup, but I think kids might get a stronger message if they showed a video of what can happen when you take chances with an ATV.
