I think they definitely have to think of her weight when deciding what kind of quad to get her. Being that small, she needs something that is light, and easy to handle. Ive been riding a 300ex, and think its one of the best quads for a female. For the most part, i can keep up with the other guys, which ride warriors. Only time i cant is when we hit the open trail, i usually fall a little behind. But trail riding, im right there with them. So i think the 300ex is a good choice, and maybe they did in fact get a lemon

If she likes the 300EX fill, and she should, ride is nice. Then spend a little more time getting the power right. When you did the pipe, did you also open the intake? (holes in the box) Open the fuel screw? Change the jetting to make up for more air? If you just put a pipe on, it will only help a little, and can be worse, if it is running to lean. Once you have the extra power, with her light wieght, you should be able to put a taller front sprocket on it and get alittle more top speed.

Maybe the 400Ex (and maybe even the 300EX) is just fine for her and you guys need to either slow down a bit for her to ride comfortably or tell her to ride at whatever speed she'd like and you'll be glad to wait as long as it takes to catch up.

I have no idea what her situation is (so please don't jump all over me for giving a solicited opinion) but it just may be that the lady enjoys just being out with you guys and being able to look over to the side once in a while; rather than worrying about 'keeping up' or being white-knuckled and on the edge for a good share of the time.

Again, I have no idea what her 'real' attitude is and how important her keeping up actually 'is' to your evaluation of the day's ride............................I've just seen ladies that talk a lot about what their husbands want to hear and end up getting hurt 'proving' it.

To answer your question; I have no idea what model/size fits in between those two machines; but think the problem itself (when you consider the crashes) might merit a re-evaluation of what's most important to 'her'.

Hope I didn't come off the wrong way..............just think that women are more concerned with appearance than guys sometimes.

Good luck with your problem.

John

Good thinking John.

We usually let her lead or us guys get run over by her! She's "Captain throttle" WOT more than we are.

The problem usually occurs on hills. She wont wait up for us and she charges up stuff she shouldn't. She gets 1/2 way up a gnarley hill and either loops the bike because she just doesn't weigh enough to keep the front end down or misses a shift , pulls on the front brakes (which does nuthing) as the bike is picking up speed BACKWARDS she slams on the rear brakes!

As far as one of us leading.........Well she's not very bright. We can be stopped waiting for her and she just rides by us 5 feet away and never see's us!

She is a tripplet! Theres 2 more just like her. One of her sisters is about 5'6" 150 and rides a Z -400. Get them two together and we find ourselves asking each other "where did they go"?

I think most of their problem is that they only look about 10 feet in front of them instead of looking at whats coming up ahead. Once they get into trouble it's too late and they crash.

These two also drive 70 mph in a residential area and slam on the brakes 100 feet before a stop sign! I won't ride in a car with them either!

LOL! Well, it looks like I couldn't have been more wrong and glad you took no offense! One thing I love about women as you describe; is that they (generally) are much more fun to be around than a lot of guys you'll ride with.

I know a lady that rides a 300EX over literally miles of nothing but rocks and boulders and 'I' sure as heck can't keep up with her on a 500 w IRS.(I've never seen a light, swingaxle machine, float over 'a lot' of rocks at high speed without hanging an axle.......but they do it.)

I would have to say that these girls must be the exception to the rule.....................God Bless 'em, an' get outta their way!
