All right, I am looking for a quad, preferably hi-performance. I was thinking about running a simple ad in the local paper that says something like

"Looking for a used 2-stroke sport quad, 250cc or higher."

I will be riding very aggressively in the woods and trails. So, what would be some good choices for someone who is looking for a fair priced used 2-stroke woods sport quad, 250cc or higher? I know, the dream quad for this type would be a Honda 250R, but, well, lets just say I'd consider myself very lucky to come across one of them.

I have a '96 Mojave that I ride myself, my brother rides a '98 Mojave, plus I have a bunch of friends that like to go riding with me. I love my Mojave, grab air, etc... but then I hear people saying that it's not a hi-performance machine. I'm like, "what?", so it'd sure be nice to have a hi-performance machine around. I want to go as far as my skills will take me, and if there are many quads that are considered better out there, I can't imagine how good they must be. Like I said, I sure as hell ain't selling my Mojave, but I'm looking into expanding into other quads also.

We used to do this type of thing with jet ski's where we'd buy them, do a quick fix, then sell them and make money off of it, and my dad said something to me like he may do that type of thing with ATVs if he came across the right ones. If you like it, you keep it. It works well, and I think we had like 7 jet skis.

Sorry for the long post...

The Mojave is a SPORT atv. As far as 2 strokes go-250cc or larger, you have the 250R by Honda, the LT-250R by Suzuki, the Quadzilla 500 by Suzuki (but you won't find one of them cheap) and then of coarse there is the Yamaha Banshee 350. Did you ever consider something like a Yamaha Warrior? They are 4 stroke, 350cc and can run about 66-68 mph.

for a warrior 60-62mph. A 250r does 66.

A warrior is not high performance and that is what he is looking for. If you dont think you can find a 250 R, go with a Suzuki Quadracer 250. They are excellent machines, although not quite as reliable as the Honda, they are fast. Plenty of aftermarket parts are available to really make these machines scream. ANd since they built them for so many years 85-92, the price is generally $1000 cheaper than a comparable Honda.

If you wanted to stick with Team Green, find yourself a Tecate-4! They are faster than 250 R's and LT 250 R's, with the most unique plastic found on a quad. Not to mention the hide-away headlight! Parts are still available from the factory as well as aftermarket. My buddy has a basically stock (pipes, extended swingarm, roost boost)Tecate 3-wheeler and it is fast. He has a hard time getting Banshees to race. THink about it.
GoodLuck,
