I have been contacted by someone who is not a member of these boards, but has apparently gotten my email address from here (possibly another messageboard, but based on the content of his emails I believe it to be through atvconnection). these are harassing emails that I have already reported to his ISP and I may report them to his local law enforcement. My questions are as follows:

1. Does this forum software track the IP address of people who access information about the members of the forum?
2. What is the policy of this board regarding personal info (such as my email address)? Is it considered public?
3. Does this forum track the IP address of posters to the forum?

Your email address is only visible to moderators. Non-moderators cannot access your email address at all. The only way a non-moderator could get your email address is if you volunteer it to them in a private message to the person.

Yes, we track IPs and a number of other things.

I have seen a similar post about a user in other forums going by the name of "incognito" obtaining someone's user id/password and has apparently been able to get into their e-mail this way also since their info is the same in all forums they visit. Might be a wise idea to change your passwords on a regular basis.

 

Because of the nature of the emails and his refusal to answer my question about where he got my email address, I have to ask the moderators to at least tell me if someone with an IP address other than mine has gained access into my account. My IP should have been the same since I joined. I should note that I had logged on from a different machine soon after I first joined this board. If possible, I would like to know the specific IP addresses that accessed my account.

 

Only 1 IP has ever been used to log into your account.
