I am looking for a plastic storage box for the rear rack of my 2000 Rancher. I want thick plastic and want something that isn't over 8 or 9 inches tall. Any ideas where I can find one? All the boxes I have seen are way too tall for my tastes. Any help would be appreciated.

Does it have to be plastic? I picked up an old military mortar box, that I bolted to the front rack. It is not quite the full width of the rack, and about 8" deep, probably around 12-14" wide. Works great. Also, check out atvstuff.com, they've got several bags designed for the front and rear racks both. I know it's not thick plastic, but it might work?. Only other thing I can think of, if Sears sells a rubbermaid type plastic box that fits nicely on the rear rack, for pretty cheap, and is lockable. Might be worth a look.

Good luck in your search.

Mike

Check out the Sears Craftsman Truck tool boxes. They're designed to fit under a pickup's front seat. They are cheap($12-14),have double wall construction, about 6-7" high,21" long and 8" wide.

I have had one of Cabela's plastic boxes on my KQ for over 3 yrs now. It can be used either front or back & is mounted to the rack with u-bolts. I lined mine with hi density foam for content protection & also to minimize rattling noise. The lid is fastened closed with rubber bungee straps and is rain proof.

I put on a aluminum diamond plated tool box that I picked up at a truck accessories store. First time I attached it to the racks it vibrated. To fix that, I bought a cheapy rubber welcome mat and cut that to the size of the box. Mounted the box to a board with the rubber matting between the two, then mounted the board to the rack with rubber matting between the board and rack. Now it's very secure with no vibration noise.

The Cajun Dri-Store box works great on the back rack. We have one on my wife's Foreman. I just zip-tie it on there, so it's easy to remove if you need the rack space. You'd be amazed how much you can fit into this box. You can get them from Cabelas or
