I have a steel header pipe for my DS650 that has what looks like a ceramic coating on it. The coating is flaking off and cracking. I was wondering if there is a place I can send the pipe to have it chrome plated and polished like banshee pipes I see that have a mirror-like finish?

As much as i hate to recommend them, trinity does real nice chrome plating. Try giving them a call.

ScoobyDFW,
Are you sure the head pipes you've seen were chromed & not nickel plated? I don't know whether chrome will endure the tremendous temperatures of a header without discoloration or even peeling.Nickel may be a better option altho I'm not sure how even nickel will stand up over the long haul.

I read somewhere that Big Gun does this with their "special" coating. You send them your pipe they coat it.

There are several companies that perform coatings. I would suggest going with a ceramic coating inside and out. Try a search for "coating" on www.smartpages.com or http://www.bigyellow.com/cobr/go/go_search.html

I am not sure of the name, maybe Jet Coat or HPC Coating or something, but i know you can send out automotive headers and get them coated. It is not quite a chrome finish, more like aluminum, but it is guaranteed not to turn color or flake. I would try giving some automotive header manufactures a call.
