what does a rev limiter do and what happens when you take it off?

 

a rev limiter does exactly what is says . It limits the amount of revoultions of the engine. You can get some aftermarket rev limiters for certain quads. If you remove the limiter i believe the quad wont run. You can also get the limiter modified. I wouldnt do that b/c you can blow the engine if you rev the engine to high.

 

White brothers makes a rev limiter that alows the motor to rev 1,000 rpm more for $100.... the only downside is your quad won't start in temperatures below 70-60 degress F. Big gun also makes one that works well all the time and claims to give a 2 hp boost. If you want to go all out a company named wolf makes a rev limiter that comes with computer software so you can make you own custom power band. this unit runs for around $400
