400EX rev limiter replacement

there is absolutely zero difference between white bros cdi box and big gun or any other 'sticker' name they want to put on the box.
taken apart in pieces, they are the same down to the part number. I think it's from a CR125 dirt bike, but I could be wrong on the exact bike.
Look on ebay, you can get one for under $50 - new.

I buy tons of stuff there. Stick with the brand new products and you'll do fine. use paypal.
don't pay more than $50 wherever you get it, I don't think it's worth that much more. the dyno shows it will rev higher, but you gain zero horsepower. search through all these forums and read the threads, you'll see what I mean.
good luck.

if the rev limiter doesn't add horsepower, then what's the point of it? do the aftermarket limiters have higher lmiits that stock, or do they have no limits? i don't want to over-rev and blow my quad up. thanx for all the info.

you wont blow your quad up as long as you don't leave it in any gear pinned for excessive periods of time. it rev's about 1000 rpm higher than stock. what i noticed is it has a more aggressive rev. it will hit the 'limit' faster than stock. the fact it goes 1000 over stock doesn't mean squat. it seems to get there faster though. the cdi box plus a 14 tooth front sprocket makes wheelies easier.
like i said before, the best way to find out peoples experiece's is search all forums on this site for 400ex cdi box, 400ex rev limiter, etc.
my thought is it's not a bad investment for under $50. anything more, save your money.

the longest i keep the throttle pinned for is when i race along the edge of the dunes, if i'm plannin on goin to the end of the beach, then i'll run it pinned in 5th gear for a few minutes. does the rev box help u in drags at all? i notice that i'll pin it in 3rd (while i was racing another 400EX with the same paddles but a dif pipe, otherwise he was stock) and i'd be winning, but as soon as i shifted to 4th he would blow by me and i would feel like i'm goin slower. do u have ne idea what this means? i got my quad used so i don't know everything that's wrong with it. thanx again for all the info, u've been a big help.
