Default K+N mounted to carb

Thinking of mounting K+N filter right to carb with no air box. Anybody done this? Does it help power, low end, etc.? Please help with your input. Want to do it today. Thanks

i run that setup on my scrambler 400 and it gives a nice boost in performance, its not good to run that setup if you ride in alot of mud and water, also youll probably have to rejet..

i've done it on one of my ds's bruce i'm not sure i would go that route it doesn't make a hugh difference to be honest. some testing is going on that shows that the vaccum in the ds carb is working right. depends if you have a vaccum operatered carb.

Not sure if my carb has vacuum. I have no choice though, pulled off WTEC filter and have sand everywhere even on the rim of the carb. Hey SAndman 430 did you say you going to florence on the 8th(SAT) ? I'm off, lets go to WInchester. How 'bout it?

I noticed a small gain in power on mine like if I was rapped out in 3rd goin up a hill now I can pull 4th in mid rpms so it did help. One of the main reasons I did it is because my jetting was off with no lid and single K&N then I went to sixsixts set-up with no airbox and dual K&Ns and my jetting turned out to be perfect. Plus it looks cool

I've seen it done in pictures of guys who drag race in the dunes... I myself would never do such a thing because then your having to clean your filter after every ride and it just gets to be a pain in the neck for what you get out of it. But if you got plenty of filter oil and time to clean your filter. Be our test dummy.

This will be fine if you use a prefilter on your k&n and you are not running in water or mud......
