I need a new frame for my 2000 scrambler 400. The stock frame just can't take the abuse I given it. Also it's too heavy. I have a HPD race kit into the mtor it makes 75Hp.
I have seen that Hpd makes a race frame BUT, they will only sell it as a whole quad and te price is about $1200.00. Thats crazy because that is only a Used quad that someone had raced NOT NEW. I have tried to get just a rolling Chassis From them and NO LUCK! Kinda pisses me off because they make that kit for the motor knowing that you will kill the frame. Anyway I know that the frame they use is a Leager made frame which has a custom made trans.
Do ay of you know if leager will make the frame for me.
I think it's just a 250r frame modded for the sprocket to be on the right side.
OR do you guys have a idea of what to use?
I was tinking of finding a used Predator to try to do this to.I already have a predator and have gone over it to see what has to be done to make this happen But, I'd rather get a frame that this mod would work in better. Also finding a Predator for Cheep Is a hard thing to find right now.

The HPD race frame is sky high, and Laeger will not make a frame for the HPD tranny set up. You are probably out of luck.

Also, I assume you left out a zero on the used HPD racer. I'm sure it's at least $12,000.....

12,000.00 dollars No ****. Why Can't HPD Just Sell The Frame!!!! That really Pisses me off!! You spend all that money with them and they can't even help you get something going with a race frame replacement.
They want you to buy the Whole thing.I have tried Now 4 or 5 times with them about just selling me a rolling Chassy.No luck!! They keep saying stuff like,(Well maybe we'll have a used one for 9000.00.) give me a break!!
I'll just go ot and find a good used Predator and rip the motor out and make My own Predator 440 Automatic.
I have looked this over between my two quads(My pred+Scramy) And I think I can do it!!
The only problem is that I would have to strech the frame to fit the Pipe on(ANY PIPE).
So maybe I'llstart looking for another Predator

 

You'd be looking at atleast 6000 just for the chassis anyway. Just sell yours and go to the bank and tell them you need a loan for a 12000 dollar quad![img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

I see your alot of help!NOT!!!! I have a bad *** Predator already and a bad *** Scrammy BUT, the scrammy needs to ride softer and be alot more lighter.
THE SCRAMMY HAS HAD ALMOST EVERY FRONT SHOCK SET UP IT COULD AND THEY ALL SUCK!! BEATING A DEAD HORSE!!

Hell you could always weld a 250R front end onto the scrammy frame.And then you could lighten the rest o f the scrammy frame with chromoly.I know this has been done before.

 

i wouldnt advise welding your frame it would not be nearly as strong as it was before, Good idea though

Welding wouldn't be as strong? Where did you come up with that one? How do you think the factory puts them together - with glue? A proper weld is stronger that the original material.

I've heard of a Banshee front end on one. If I had the energy to build a one-off custom frame I would probably lighten and strengthen the stock frame and build my own doulbe a-arms. I'd get a250r and set it in the shop next to the one I building and just wing it.

You might want to look towards AZ BAD BOYS for some insights.
