What is the best pipe and header combo for my 400EX? I'm looking for speed, torque and a nice sound thats quiet. List the pipe, price, place where you can get it, and any additional info you'd like to put in. Thankyou

 

I think you can see from the lack of response to your inquiry that there isn't a pipe and silencer combo that is going to have everything you want. The most difficult aspect is the noise factor. If you really have to keep it quiet you're probably best off sticking with your stock system. The only other really quiet system that I have heard about, is one from Big Gun- where they use the quietest of three optional silencer cores.

 

I have the Supertrapp IDS2 Quiet series model on my 300EX, header and silencer. I don't think there is a header available for the 400. There is a slip on silencer for your ride though. Rocky Mt. ATV has them for around $190. I really like mine. not much louder than stock, but a whole lot more responsive. I like the fact that you can tune it for the type of riding you do. Tuning also affects noise level, but not by much. Doesn't the 400 already have a large header? Good luck, Mike.

 

The IDS does include a spark arrestor. Stock bike 104dB, with IDS 111dB. Full race bike with stock exhaust 116db, with IDS 117db. The Supertrap is the quietest aftermarket performance pipe that you can buy.

 

whatever. that is a HUGE gain in noise on a stocker. Every 10dB is a doubling in sound pressure. 3dB is a noticeable difference. The powercore IV2 is supposed to be quiet, but my friend ordered one and it is loud. He ordered the powerbomb header to see if it would quiet it down, but it hasn't arrived yet. I'm not buying one at this point.
