WINCHES!!!
#1
My birthday is on Wednesday and my parents wanted to knaow what I want for my birthday...they said they will give me $100 and I can spend it on anything else. I thought I would put more money in and get a winch for my atv...would it be worth getting a winch??...I do drive in lots of mud. Would it work good? I saw one on sale in a store for $250...it's a superwinch 1500...would that be good enough for my 200?? or do I need a stronger one??
THIS IS A GOOD POST FOR TREE FARMER TO ANSWER..lol

I'm flattered you ask, ATV_MAN; perhaps I'm good for SOMETHING (although you can get an argument on that point!).
Short answer; the Superwinch T1500 is fully adequate for your quad in my opinion. The T1500 has the identical motor and drivetrain of the ATV2000; both have a stall pull of around 2400 #.
I strongly recommend a ****** block; TxDoc2 found a 4-ton one at Northern ((800) 533-5545 for $ 14.99 (14298-F724); don't think you'll beat that price.
Besides a winch, you'll need a mount; extra expense unless you've access to metal plate cutting and drilling. Not rocket science, exactly; someone handy with a cutting torch can cobble out an adequate mount; add a few U-bolts and you're in business. If you're on a budget, I wouldn't spend extra money for a roller failead, a hawse (smoothed metal slot) fairlead works fine.
If your $ 100 Canadian won't stretch far enough to buy a winch, a 2-ton hand-opeated comealong sells for $ 20 US or less; handy when no buddy with a tow strap is nearby.
Good luck, and remember: you'll transfer that winch to your new quad you're getting this fall!

Thanks Tree Farmer,
I might go out on Monday to get one but i'm not 100% sure i'm getting one yet...that's only if my dad lets me.
A mounting kit will be easy to mount I allready know. I didn't think I would need a roller fairlead.
1 problem, my friend had a winch on his and his stuck out like 3 ft infront of his quad...LOL...and my quad is almost the same as his...he has a honda 125, where should I mount it??
I have never heard of those come-along things...they sound cheap and reliable...maybe i'll get one of those instead.

Not a bad bike (good idea having a photo of it on the net) looks like there is plenty of room behind your bull bar under the front guards heaps of room for your winch I wouldnt have it sticking out to far if I were you

I agree with Dave350cc; LOOKS LIKE you've plenty of room to mount the T1500 entirely behind your bumper; the T1500's maximum diameter is 3.9"; it's 12.5" long. Be creative, mount it "upside down" if necessary (I doubt that's required). Minimum projection is your goal.
