I'm planning on getting my bro a alittle Blaster for his 1st quad.Anyway do I buy used, new or modified and if I buy 1 does any 1 know who makes that liquid cooling kit and head for it.I know dirtbike premiered it many years back but I dont even know if the company still exists, all replies would be greatly respected and appreciated.

first of all, a simple head will not enable a Blaster to run like a 250R..even the 240 kit will only bring it to stock R levels, any R that has mods will beat it (given an equal rider)
the head will allow the motor to run cooler, allowing it to last longer, and not fade as bad when hot.

Duncan Racing sells a water cooled Powerhead for the Blaster. Although cooling just the head is not as good as cooling the entire cylinder, it's an awesome product.

First of all, good choice on a Blaster for a starter bike! I would definitely not buy a new one, you can find them used for much cheaper and they are just as good. My dad had an 89 and I bought one brand new for my first bike and his was still just as fast as mine. I would recommend that you get one with an aftermarket pipe, silencer and reed cage though. As far as the liquid cooled head, I don't think that it is worth it. When Blaster's get hot, it is very noticeable that you get a loss of power but the head is not going to do much for you. Duncan racing does sell the liquid cooled head, but I am sure that they are over $500 and that is a big mod to make for such an inexpensive bike. Plus, people that ride Blaster's tend to outgrow them fast so I would try to keep the spending down to a minimum because in 6 months your brother will want a 250R.
