Installing a pro-design cool head on a 88 250r, Jetting? Which Dome?
#1
I want to get a little extra pep out of my bike so i went and purchased a pro design cool head with a 22 cc dome. I have no porting or any work done on my engine what so ever. I have a paul turner pipe, delta v-force reeds, K&N Air cleaner, and ive done some jetting. The stock main jet was a 158 i think and i moved to a 160 main after installing the pipe and reeds and filter. It seems to run pretty well with the set up i have right now but id like to get a little more out of it as i mentioned. My questions are first of all, is the 22 cc dome the right choice for my set up? I went with this dome thinking since my motor is stock and i shouldnt raise the compression too much. Can i go with a smaller dome or is the 22 the right choice for now? Also has anyone been down this road before and knows what jetting size works good with this setup? I havent installed anything yet cause i wanted to bounce this off a few people first. I havent even opened the dome package and im not going to until i know its the right one for me. Thanks in advance to anyone who comments on this.

Bansheesmoker is right, keep it on pump gas. If you go too high on the compression you will need to run race fuel to prevent detonation. I tried it and I feel it was just too expensive and hard to acquire to justify the results.
22 cc should be about right for your build. If you are looking for some real kick I would get the cylinder ported. You looking at about $300 but what a difference it will make.
