Default Air/Fuel Mix Screw

This may seem completely stupid of me to ask, but other than adjusting the mix of air/fuel can anyone tell me what the adjustments do?

I've currently got my carb set at 3.5 turns out ... I referenced dyno jet's site (not using them, just reference material) and they say 2.5 turns out.

I guess what I'm really asking is this: when you turn the screw out are you increasing the amount of air or the amount of fuel? I'm thinking it's the amount of air since the main jet is what delivers the fuel, am I right in that thinking?

And having said that, if I need more fuel out of my 150 main jet, I guess I have to adjust my clip closer to the point of the needle right?

Any info would be appreciated L8r's all

If the screw is on the air filter side of carb its an Air screw , if its on the intake side its a fuel screw , out is more in is less.

Do a search for jetting there is a wealth of info out there !

Thanks for the info .. I've searched on jetting, but all anyone ever talks about is how many turns. Never talked about the actual function. I've always thought it adjusted the air and fuel together

Generally speaking, If you have your mixture screw more then 3 turns out you should increase the pilot. Usually it isn't a good idea to have it more then 3 turns out because it tends to vibrate and fall out because it is only being held on by a few threads. I would suggest increasing the pilot one size and turning the screw in 2 full turns.

We all had to start somewhere..dont be shy about asking, its the only way to learn.
