LT500 in a LT250?

zook let me tell you in the past 3 months a have purchased 2 zillas from ebay. And got great deals on them. I rode one of the new 450r hondas and after riding and racing against it there is no way i would trade my zilla for anything it blew the doors off the 450r when the motors are tight i cant see how they can be beat.. p.s. also if you got extra cash one day lrd makes a front clip for the 250 and 500 cost 1300 but they build rake into the front and allow a long travel suspension set up then the 17 year old beast will out handle anything...

The 250 chassis can be made MUCH lighter, and with the HP of the 500 motor can be a lethal combination.
Pretty simple install too, not many mods needed.
The hardest part is to get your hands on a 500 motor... and then build it up to be a good reliable performer.

Well I would run a cr because those motors are easy and cheeper to tune the way you want them, but the cr will vibrite more. You can solve the vibe probs but it might take you a coulple trips. I think you can get more hp from a cr as well. I'm running a aftermarket carb and intake but you might not have to depending on where you locate the motor and how much room you have. you can find a 86 cr500 whole bike for under $2000. and a 86 has the most power. I am good at these projects, pm me if you have questions and are serious.

That is a non-counterbalanced engine.... I've tried several methods to making a tolerable swap... they run hard until all the bolts vibrate out (Along with a couple fillings)
I rubber mounted the entire motor, then tried neoprene.... rubber mounted handlebars, steering stem... FORGET IT... That motor is going to vibrate hard in a quad chassis... period.
They do make a decent retro-fit into a 3wheeler... I'm not capable or qualified to keep them shiney side up

Yea I dont have a set quite that big for a 3-wheeler. Leager makes a kit to convert a cr500 into a 3-wheeler. Not to start a arguement but yes you can solve the vibe problems. well at least I did. I used teflon nuts and lock tight on every bolt and nut. rubber mounted the head stay, and solid mounted everything else. Certin importent bolts I drilled holes and use codder pins on the other side of the nut so its impossibe to lose those bolts or nuts. Went 3 trips without one bolt or nut comming loose or a crack in the frame. Yes it does vibrate but it dosent bother me at all. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it and dont give up or cut corners.

I agree with banshee smoker. After I locktited all my bolts down I have never lost another bolt or had any additional problems. Yes they do vibrate but I have not lost any fillings in my teeth and I ride mine all day long without the vibration bothering me. The only problem I have is my knuckles get sore cuz it takes all my strength to hold on the handle bars when im accelerating
