I've been looking at carbs lately and can't seem to figure out the reason why they are made with different shaped slides. What do you have and why? And what is the largest carb you'd put on an unmodified [no engine work just bolt ons] Banshee?

Round slides were the first carb mikuni made. Thain they came up with an improvement, the flatslide witch flows better, wide open, and has better throttle response.

I'm not sure, but I think flatslide carbs are a little bit harder to tune(although, anything would be an improvement over stock Banshee carbs). Just to throw another shape at you, my snowmobile has D shaped slides.

Have you considered a UFO ( Ultimate Flow Optimiser ) ? It is supposed to clean up the air flow through the carb. ie less turbulence = better
fuel atomization. Let me know if you can't find thier site, it has some good diagrams of cabs on it

Heard of them, but jetting is really tricky to set up. Unless you have dyno they aren't worth it. Even the magazines say they are great once dialed in, but are nearly impossible to dial in.
