Air filter cleaning

NO!!!
Aside from the obvious extreme fire hazard, gasoline can damage or destroy the adhesive used in manufacturing the filter.
Some like to use detergent & water. I prefer using a water soluble aerosol spray which can re rinsed out in the kitchen sink with no residueleft in the sink. There are several brands of foam filter cleaner, Uni and Maxima are two I use interchangeably with very good results. Both of these brands also make filter oil and seem to be equally good at trapping dust. I like Maxima the best because the cans are bigger.

Use uni filter cleaner first to get the oil out, rinse it.Then use Dawn dish soap to get it clean.Rinsing it with warm water is better if you can do it.Just make sure the old lady isnt around to see you cleaning filters in the sink!

I have been told that kerosene works for cleaning foam filters. its not as strong as gas so it wont break down the filter like gas would. I recently cleaned my filter and i: took the prefilter off, cleaned it w/ kerosene, cleaned it in warm soapy water, let it dry real good, cleaned the uni filter w/ kerosene then warm soapy water and let it dry fully also. i then sprayed Foam Filter Oil on both the filter and outerwear. Putting oil back on the foam filter is very important because it is what catches most of the dirt.

Well I start by soaking it in Gasoline...then I wash it off with soap and water then I blow dry it till it's completley dry and I'm done.
