Radiators

Anyone got any ideas on a system to keep the rad. from getting clogged (aside from mounting it on top of the rack)?

I've been seeing a lot of people but them up on the racks, wasn't to sure why, but I guess it would help, I cann't think of any other ideas for keeping the mud from clogging.
