86 lt250 with 87 cr500 motor
this is a very common problem with the cr500 install, beef it all up as much as possible and don't leave home without a welder it is sad to say, but it has been proven that the cr500 motors will vibrate an entire atv apart with enough time, but hey have fun with the power, I give you a thumbs up for running anything other than the stock motor in any atv, I myself have to have something different, who wants what everyone else has.
I would suggest finding some type of rubber and or composit mount spacers that can be changed out easily instead of a rigid mount system.

Hey I want to do the same with my future 250r...
I saw something on the tech connection....
..................
Hi I recently seen a CR500 engine stuffed in a 250R frame and I was wondering how easy it wouuld be to install a CR 250 or 500 engine in an R frame. I also heard that they vibrate is it possible to have a counterbalancer machined into these engines if not what could you do to decrease vibration??
Thanks for your time:Matt

Matt,
Yes you can put a CR motor in a TRX frame. Yes they vibrate. To the extent that you will experience frame fatigue unless you order a special frame that has been constructed to combat the vibration.
No, a counterbalancer can not be retrofitted. The CR's are considered race motors, and a counterbalancer to reduce engine vibration and require horsepower to do it is unacceptable.
What would I do to reduce vibration? I would rubber mount the engine. I would purchase rubber mounts designed for another model ATV and use them in the mounting of the CR engine.
..................
Is it the mounts or the frame that breaks ??
If you find a solution, let us know !!!
