Default Adding Third Light To Steering Column

I'm going to install a 55w light to my '01 AC 400 4x4 on the steering column. This is to gain height and direction. There are three wires off the plug in the rear. I assume one is ground, one is low, and the other high beam. What is the best way to wire this, splice into existing wire or run to battery with a handle bar mounted switch? I would prefer to have it come on when the stock lights do but don't have a clue where to splice into. I really only need the light when plowing snow. I would prefer to wire directly and not mess with any AC wiring so I don't screw anything up. Anyone else do this and have other ideas? Oh, I take it wiring only one light (low OR high) but not both so the light does not burn out. Right?

Jeff
